In Kindergarten we talked about what a Landscape is and what Vertical and Horizontal lines are. We looked at some pictures of beautiful Autumn landscape paintings and photographs. Kindergarteners got to come to the board to find and point to the horizontal and vertical lines they saw in the landscapes.
Our artwork was made by dipping the edges of matte board pieces into brown paint and then stamping it on the paper to create a horizontal line for the ground and vertical lines for tree trunks. Some kindergartners even chose to add diagonal lines for tree branches. After, we used small sponge pieces and dipped it into red and/or yellow paint, then dabbed it onto our trees to create beautiful foliage. Who knew red and yellow were going to make orange?! To finish off our artwork we dabbed green paint with our sponges onto the horizontal line to create grass and/or bushes. This was also a fun way to create a painting without using a brush.
